brakes feeling less than they should?!?!
brakes feeling less than they should?!?!
anyone who has brakes that dont feel like they are up to par.........adjust your back brakes manually trust me! I did everything possible to figure why my brakes werent stopping like they should and have read everywhere on the net about everyone else having the same problem.......I am running 33 12.50 interco trxus mt and after adjusting my back drum brakes manually my truck stops RIGHT NOW without locking up at all hope this thread helps anyone in need
But then again, if your auto-adjusters work, you shouldn't have to adjust them manually, anyway. However, the Ford auto-adjusters are just about the most finnicky setup I've seen yet. I've come to figure how to abortionalize them to work better. First, the starwheels get a little slice with a hacksaw down each gap if needed clearance isn't there. Then, I'll sometimes dress the edge of each tooth gap with a three-square (triangle) file to make sure edges are even. Then I'll always grind the contacting edge of the adjuster arm on an angle so that the arm has no choice but to dig into the tooth it grabs. Never seize on the adjuster threads is a must, along with some lube on the cable pivot and contact points to prevent friction and rust.
Now if only I had a few bucks I'd get a used '99 or so rear housing with a limited slip 3.73 and rear discs......
