275-70 vs 285-65-18, why no 275's?
275-70 vs 285-65-18, why no 275's?
I see a ton of people running 285-65-18's on here, and basically nobody running 275-70's. Do people just prefer a wider tire over a taller one? The 285's are 32.6x11.2x18 and the 275's are 33.2x10.8x18. So compared to the stock 275-65-18's (32.1x10.8x18) you can either have a tire thats .4" wider and .5" taller, or one thats the same width but 1.1" taller.
Is it just tire selection, or is the extra .4" width noticeable? I'm leaning towards Toyo A/T's or Nitto T/G's; both are available in both sizes.
Thanks,
greg

275/70/18 Goodyears?
I am also considering new tires for my 04' FX4.
Looking on Tire Rack they have a few options with the Wranglers.
The reviews there seem to be quite good as well.
275/65/18 (32")and the 275/70/18(33") for $150 and $180 ea.
I do mostly commuting miles with my truck so I dont need a
super aggressive A/T tire.
Anyone have experience with these tirers or this size?
I do have a 2" autospring kit in the front.
