Do the Toyo MT's get you through sand and wet roads?

I have had plenty of experience on wet roads and they do great. They would probably do ok in sand if you aired them down, but they are a Mud Terrain. Not a dune tire.

i have parnelli jones dirt grips and they are good on the street and in the wet...the only offroading i have done is on the beach and they did great in the sand and i didnt even air down...mine is strictly a pavement pounder but my buddy had a set of balled out pj's on his truck and it never got stuck in anything we took it through.

i like the maxxis bighorns (not the buckshots), they're cheap, and they look like a mix between the BFG MTs, and goodyear mt/r's. they aren't TOO loud on the road, and i have yet to get stuck in them. and i wheel a lot.

Are the toyo mt's good in snow though? Im curious as the weather probably wont stay in the positives much longer here in alberta. But on a side note i helped tow a new dodge power wagon out of a little water hole and it was all sand around there and im glad i had the toyos, me and another f150 managed to get the guy out even though i didnt think it was going to happen. Ill have to post some pics.

ProComp Xtreme ATs are awesome. Have a set in 35x12.50/18 on stock rims on an '05 FX4 with lev lit. No rubbing at all. Great off-road for an AT. No noise on road.

so you wanting to bet on this one?? The only thing they are the "best" at MIGHT be being a mix between AT and MT. Last long, quiet, and decent off-road traction. I get MT to go through mud, not drive on cement. Great tire, but not the best MUD terrain tire (IMO). What about Mud Grapps? Boggers? TSL? etc etc... they have some pretty gnarly mud terrains out now that can even fling and clean in the deep south's jumbo goo mud! Lets see a Toyo in that! Or up here in this clay mud, i have seen Toyos turn into great looking doughnuts.... mmm doughnuts...!

i have actually heard that the toyo MTs are quite poor in the muck (since they are more for road lifted truck and get good wear-n-tear). a guy i know living near me took them off his F250 because they were no good in the mud. he said that his current mud grapplers are way better, and that his previous BFG MTs were better too.

WOW!! i own a set of 33x12.50x18 toyo m/t's i run on my personal truck which is also my work truck. i work on natural gas pipelines which is basically any where from 2 to 10 miles of mud!! (well when it rains) Anyway, i have never had a problem with traction and it gets pretty nasty out there. i dont really know much about snow i think i may have seen it once in a movie or something, not real sure?? louisiana is not known much for its icy tundra. just red clay, mud and crawfish. but for the mixture of mud and road, definately the toyo's. those graps, boggers, tsl's are a great tire if u dont want to hear the radio or u just want them to last about 12000 miles. go with the toyo's or those sweet *** new bfgs, those things look awsome and i have heard awsome things about them. thats my opinion good luck!!!

OK.... but you said they are the best MT and will perform as good if not better... I was just saying they may be the best cross between mud and street...(sorry for the mix up). I have seen them gum up and, like I said, turn into big ole doughnuts. They don't have big enough voids to make them self clean (at least compared to some other MT's out there) and yes i agree i listed some of the more extreme tires on the market. As for snow... my buddy just got a set, so we haven't seen snow yet with em and I don't think I have ever seen someone running them up in the "SNO-parks" so i am really unsure of how they peform in the ice. I was just bustin your chops and giving the Toyo a hard time. i knew once i said something negative about the (almighty) Toyo MT people would jump all over me but someone gotta play the devil's advocate other wise they get nothing but praise! IMO (key phrase here) they are not the BEST in the MUD (even tho they carry the title MUD Terrain) . I would say they are easly one of the better "all around" tires (except their price!) Personally I am debating between the new BFG's or the Mud Grapps.
P.S. The Toyo MT in the 35x12.50 cost MORE money than my Chevy's 40x17.5 Ground Hawgs !!

I've got Toyo A/T (35 x 12.5) and couldn't be happier, I put a lot of miles on my truck and went with the A/T for longer mileage, but it handles well in mud, great in deep midwest snow, great in rain, and haven't been stuck yet in the sand....Photos don't do the tire justice on how good they look....They are expensive but I know that my next set of tire will remain Toyo.
