Brakes lock up when it rains ????

97 F-150 XLT...Anyone know the fix to this problem. It only does it after it sits in the rain.

I dunno man, but see if my reply in your other post about dust helps cure this and that. My old 88 crown vic did this from time to time, but nothing was really noticed, just did it and it went away.

If you are talking about the rear shoes, I would clean them with 120 grit sandpaper and wash the dust off with water. This will knock the glaze off the shoes.

MIne used to do that but then they just stopped doing it. Only happend if it was a light mist, never happened after a heavy rain. I seem to recall on a forum somewhere, that this may be caused my moisture getting at the ABS sensor. I'll see if I can find it.

Drum brakes I suppose, mine do the same. Always when it rained or the morning when it's damp outside. Ride the brakes lightly for a few seconds, 2 or 3 times. Dries humidity out of shoes, usually ok for the day after that. That's all I've ever done, works for me.
