Cool Calling all M/T users.....

I am hoping there is a few people on this site that have used at least 2 different sets of M/T tires, and could help some of us out that have not ventured into this yet. I will be purchasing my first set of aftermarket rims and tires very soon, and like many others could use some sound advice. Lets just say, because this is what I hear over and over, that the Toyo M/T is the quietest riding tire on the road. We will give it a 10. I have personally heard the Nitto mud grappler and think it is very loud. I will give it a 3 just in case others know of tires that are louder. I know its hard to scale a M/T tire on noise if you have only had one set, that is why the members that have tried several sets of M/T's, input, will be very valuable. Anyways, I would really like to know where the Mickey MTZ's, Cooper STT's, BFG M/T's, and Pro comp extreme M/T's fit in this scale. Any others are welcome to. Any help will be greatly appreciated, not just by me! Thanks everyone.

My brother has **** Cepek Mud Country's LT305/70R18 on his Chevy, I got Toyo MT's 35/12.50/18 on my truck, we drive everywhere together. I beleive the Toyo's outperform the Cepek's on and off road. If your solely going on noise than the Toyo's pretty much the quietest MT you will find.

The coopers are very very much like the toyos almost the same tire. The noise level is very low and the bfg mud terrains are very quiet but those are the only tires I have experience with.

out of the tires mentioned i would rate the cooper discoverer stt right below the toyo in terms of noise, since it was designed after the toyo m/t...i would give it a 9 at the worst, but it may possibly be as quiet as the toyos...

I am going to buy my tires from a local dealer who has always treated me right. He unfortunately can't get the Toyo's but has quoted me 315 for the KM2's and 285 for the MTZ's. The BFG's are 305 60 18's and the Mickey's are 325 60 18's. He can also get the coopers but havn't had him quote those yet.
This comment by another member on another thread worries my though------

I would say the MTZ's but I would not get the coopers cause my friend has them and he drives strictly on the street and yu can her them coming apart one chunck at a time. Also heard the **** cepek mud countries are getting good reviews, you also might want to check out that new BFG mud terrian, call the KMZ 2 or something like that. Not to try to sway your mind, but if you are looking for the best ride on the street you eliminated the best two right off the bat, but good luck.

I notice those words, LOL because they are mine. My friend has had nothing but problems with his coopers STT. He might have had a bad set but I will never own a set just on what I have seen. Not bad mouthing Coopers or anything like that just saying that the tires are coming apart and they should not do that. He has no more than 10 or 12 thousand and they are just falling apart. I agree with the replys on here. Toyos are great I recently bought some 35 BFG muds for the truck and they are a great tire have about 3 thousand miles on them look brand new and I drive about 70 miles a day on the interstate. This is temporary untill I get the company car. And they ride great even at 75 mph. But its a MT, u can feel the lugs when slowing to a stop and when starting off the line, road noise is minimal but will get a little louder as they wear, but overall great tire and very pleased. Cant go wrong with the BFG or the Toyos, do not know much about the MTZ but here it is a good tire, but In my opinion I would stay away from the coopers. Just MO. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply smitt, just wondering, how was the ride and the noise on your friends coopers before they started self destructing, if I may ask?

Up until now I have only heard good things about the Coopers, I like the way they look and would consider them for the next mud tire for my little mud buggy.

I have Dunlop Mud Rovers on my Ranger right now, the ride is good, noise isn't too bad. I did get them used however and they are on a totally uninsulated truck, I bet they would seem alot quieter on my F-150. I don't have a ton of miles on them but for me it would be between the Coopers and Dunlops the next round.

Silver,

I really like the look of your truck, would like mine to be similar. I have a 2004 Supercrew 4x4 Lariat. I don't want the big expense of a suspension lift, wonder if you think I could run the same tires as you on my stock 18 rims, and do a 3" body lift and look like yours, what do you think? Would your lift be considered a body lift?

Also, I saw these tires @ $300 each, any better prices out there?

if you rate the nitto muds a 3 on sound, then boggers are like -5.
