quick question

i have an 06 stx 4x4 with the 4.6, i've read a lot on here that 35 inch tires and the 4.6 don't mix too well, but most of those guys have 3.55 gears, i have the 3.73 in mine. how much would 35s hinder me over a 33 inch tire. thanks for the help.

There's going to be a powerloss. My friend has a red single cab 4x4 stx. with the 3.73 gears, and she's got 35's on some American Racing 18"s. She told me there's a noticible power loss, but she claims the truck will handle it just fine.

I dunno, I say go for it. But remember, gas is REAL HIGH right now. Good luck!

thanks for the info, i dunno either. i might compromise and go with a 315/70/17 (34.6"), just looking for the right size tires once i get a 4.5" lift. thinking 33s might look a little on the small side.

If you don't do any heavy towing/hauling you should be fine with 35's.

I can tell even with a 5.4 and 3.73 gears the power loss between 33" tall tires and the 35's on my truck now. In heavy traffic I drive with the OD off and it's not to bad. Towing up to about 3,000 lbs is about the max I would pull. I'm planning to get a programmer soon to help correct the shift point's. Also expect to lose about 1 to 2mpg mostly in city driving.
