Airing down on stock width rims?

Ok so I am looking to take my truck off road this weekend for the first time. I just got my 35x12.5 tires and am still on stock 17 inch rims. I know the narrow width of the rim is kinda pushing it with these wide tires but I was wondering if anyone can tell me if it is safe to air the tires down for this run. And if so how far you think it would be safe to go. Thanks for any help

You may not have to air them down at all, but if you do I wouldn't go lower than 25 to 30psi. on the stock wheels. Have a decent compressor handy!

No, I would run them on the highway at 42 to 45psi and see how they ride.

I've always had good results with 40 psi in truck tires.
As for airing down, the narrow wheel will make it more difficult to pop a bead than with a wide wheel.
