Pirelli 20" problems

I have a set of stock Pirelli Scorpion 275/55r-20. Tires have just over 10000 miles on them . When washing the truck Sunday i noticed a tear on the side wall of the front tire and another starting on the back. Has anyone had this problem. I am leery on installing the same tire and thinking of going to a more aggressive . Any input you may have will be helpfully. Thanks Kevin

Can you tell if the damage is due to a defect in the tire or is it from road damage?

Since the tires are factory mounted, you might check with the dealer to see if they will help you on the replacement.

I also have a 2006 FX4 with the 20" Scorpions and do not like them at all.
I'll replace them with another tire brand in the near future.

How come? I don't mind mine at all. Is it the (relatively) rough ride? That's more a function of the aspect ratio than anything else.

I actually do not have any complaints on them at all. I was thinking of going with them in 33's They seem to be more affordable than other 33's in the 20" size. Considering that all my driving is on the road, these tires seem to work fine for me.

Good tire...after you get the initial 5-10 miles per day to smooth out the flat spots. I'll probably not replace with Pirelli either when that time comes. I've had other vehicles with 20inch wheels and those tires didn't get daily flat spots (BFG's I believe they were).

Same here on the flat spots, I scrapped my set with only 6000 miles, a $40,000 truck should not bounce and shake for 10 miles after its sat for a few days. I have been to Ford and Pirelli asking for replacements, they told me that they were aware of the problem but no recall had been issued at that time. I couldnt wait, I purchased another set (Cooper Zeon LTZ 305/55/20) and love them.

I had no issues with mine - of course I only had them for 3500 miles before I went to 35's.

How about some closeup shots of the tear??? Or, we could just sit here and attempt to wonder what you really have going on.

And, my Pirellis are just fine.
