Lug Nuts?

Ive had my lift on for about a week now and yesterday I started to hear a squeaking noise when I either drove straight or when I turned left. It would go away tho when I turned right. I did some research and was reading about wheel bearings and cv joints. This morning after being upset about the truck my dad comes over and tells me if I knew all my lug nuts on my drivers side wheel were loose. I know, stupid me, should have checked that yesterday but I guess with getting so upset with the noise and the popping sound I just expected something major was failing.
Well I go out there and I jack the truck up pull the wheel off and notice alot of little shavings. It looks like the threads on the inside of the lug nuts just stripped off. I notice when I put the wheel back on it is pretty tight trying to get the wheel over the hub. It has to be just right, before it goes all the way on. I know I let my cousin put this wheel on and I remember hearing him say to my brother "dont worry when you tighten the lugs it will pull the wheel over the hub". Where the lugs tighten on the wheel, does anyone else notice the lugs indenting into wheel. I dont know much about wheels and tires, I just wanna make sure the wheel will be safe. Im gonna go out and get new lug nuts for the wheels but Im worried about the old lugs pushing into the wheels, Is that normal? Thanks, sorry for the long post, PLEASE HELP

Are these stock wheels and lugnuts or aftermarket? There are wheels that are hubcentric (they center with the hub) and wheels that are lugcentric (they are centered by the lugnuts). I belive Ford's are hubcentric, so they fit very snug on the hub. If the thread on the studs was damaged you might need to replace them.

The wheels are Diamo 17k 18x10. I believe they are hubcentric because it fits very snug over the hub. The threads on the studs are still good, no missing thread nor are they damaged. I know I need to replace the lug nuts cause there stripped on the inside but should I worry about the lugs that I originally had digging into the wheel and leaving a indent or is that normal.

I'm not sure it's normal, but it doesn't sound right. The lugnuts with a taper at the end are for the lugcentric wheels, hubcentric should be just flat

If im using the lugs with the taper at the end could this be the reason why the lug nuts came loose. These lugs came with the wheels, there not flat they round off. Should I change the lug nuts to a flat lug nut? How do I know if my wheels are hub centric?

If these are new wheels, you should have checked the lugs after ever 25 or so miles. It's very common for new aluminum wheels to take a while to "take a seat" and the lugs to stay tight.

Hey Wandell, I was waiting for your reply. I did check the wheels after 25 miles and once more at about 75. I did about 100 miles the day I got them put on to show it off and the wheels were still tight. Am I supposed to keep using these tapered lug nuts or go with lug nuts that are flat where the lug meets the tires. The wheel sits very snug to the hub, so Im taking that its hubcentric, correct? Wouldnt that mean I need the lugs that are flat. The wheels dont look like they have a tapered hole where a tapered lug would go, Its flat. Thanks

That would depend on the wheel. If the wheel has a centering taper for the lug nuts, then use tapered lug nuts. If it is just a hole and a flat area around the hole then you need flat lug nuts.
What did you torque the lug nuts to. If not 150, that might be why they loosened.

I agree. Try contacting the wheel manufacturer and making sure you have the right lugnuts.
