3 To Choose From...

I'm looking into buying a set of tires and rims since I just put a 6'' Fabtech lift on my ext. cab. I'm looking to go with 35x12.5x20. I already have the rims picked out as seen below.

The three tires that i'm deciding between is the Nitto MG's, Toyo Open Countries, or the Mickey Thompson ATZ.

I already know the general census of the forum will lean me towards the Open Countries, and say that Nittos are amazingly loud. Can anyone up load the incab noise possbily? And other then that has anyone had any expierience with the Mickeys?

IF you can get the Open Country's, do it.

I know it seems like.. "Eh, Road noise, schmoad noise"

I've rode in a truck for a couple thousand miles with MG's on em, it gets annoying. :P

It sounds like the Toyo's are a good choice but I also heard that they wear pretty fast, is that true?

Absolutely not true, and whoever told you that is dumb. They have one of the best tread life among mud terrains. Around 40-50k. Quiet as can be too.

I have had the Mickey Thompson MTZ's for about 10k. The in-cab noise is incredibly low, plus they look pretty sweet. Also they are wearing very well, I can barely seen any kind of wear on the tread. I would definitely buy them again.

The MTZ's are getting great reviews. I'd suggest the Toyo's followed by the MTZ's.

Well lets see if I want an agressive looking tire but not so much tire hum I would go with TOYO. If I don't mind tire hum I would go with NITTO.

If i could get the MTZ's in 20" rims I would most likely go with those. But according to their site they dont make them, the closest thing would be 36's and i'm not sure if they would fit. Being a high school kid, I have a hard time paying that much for the Toyo's but maybe i'll just work an extra week.

The next thing would be what size of backspacing/rim combo would be best to make the tires stick out about 2 inches from the fenders flares? Almost like keith's, but maybe a little more.

What year is your truck? You ask about tires, but you didn't give us any info on your ride.

Most all aftermarket wheels for our trucks have 4.5 inches of backspacing. If you have a 4x4, just go with a 10 inch wide wheel.
