Lift & Tires for a 2005 4x4

I am new to this site and am looking for advice. I have a 2005 F150 STX 4x4 with stock 255/70 R17's. I want to put a more aggressive tire without going as large as a 6" lift. I've been to several different places all giving me different information. I would like to put the largest tire possible, at least a 33". My biggets problem is I'm afraid that only a 2" leveling kit won't make much of a difference. Can anyone please tell me what needs to be done to my truck and are there any pictures I can see to have an idea?

Welcome!
Many members here are running 33's and 35's on stock wheels, or aftermarket wheels with close to stock backspacing, with just a 2.5" leveling kit. I'll be one of them soon. The little lift does make enough difference. Fortunately, this site is full of threads and pictures from folks doing just that.

Here's a few to get you started:

A search will yield many more...

Have fun!
