Does anyone make 2 piece 2wd front hubs (hub and rotor separate) ???
Does anyone make 2 piece 2wd front hubs (hub and rotor separate) ???
I am soooo fed up of screwing around with bearing grease every friggin' time I have to turn or replace my 1997 2wd front rotors. I'm almost at the point of getting a set of used 4x4 front spindles, hubs, etc. if they have a separate disc plate. I'm told that one piece hubs/rotors are toughest and generally last longest, but it's such a pain to do brakes that I can live with changing or turning the rotors when doing a brake job as long as there's no grease involved.
no they do not... and your alternative is to take it to a shop that has an on the car lathe... although i would like to remind you that those bearings end up lasting longer with constant greasing... kinda like an engine... all them oil changes end up making the engine last longer...
So I wonder if it would be possible to use a set of F150 rear discs, modify the front hubs (ie machine on a lathe) by removing the complete disc plate and slip the rear discs in place.... Not impossible, but still a big enough project. Now where did my wife leave the lathe ?
I think this kit has two piece rotors if I remember correctly. I found more info on another site or install article a while back when I was researching a big brake upgrade.

Here is the magazine article that I was thinking of - the part number is the same even though the article is about a '98 Expedition.
I meant to say in my previous post that this kit has a separate hub assembly and two-piece rotors as well.
