Unhappy Imploded Parking Brake

I had an incident today,Had my Parking brake set and didnt release it before hitting the gas and heard a loud pop-Immiediatly released it and now have no parking brake and lots of noise coming from the right rear. When I made it home I got out the laser temp gauge and the drum part of thr rear disc was 372 degrees. The noises are as if many loose pieces are floating around.I only have 24,000 miles and wonder if warranty would cover this.I didnt drive with the brake on as it was obvious and released it.Any response would be appreciated.

The only way warranty will cover this is if you tell them you were just driving and it happened. If you mention that you started to drive first, they will probably not cover it. Something was ready to break because that should not have happened.

Sounds like the pads/hardware came apart. This will no doubt fall into the dreaded "normal wear" catagory. But you may be able to successfully argue the "safety issues" position..

Apreciate the response,I dont have my owners manual handy to look it up as far as warranty, but the parking brake is definantly in pieces,Will take it in to the dealership monday and will probably get the anticipated response,Hopefully it will go my way since it is one sided{right side] instead of both,Thanks

If you want to see what those brakes look like & how to change them (in case they won't cover it), look thru these pics.

Took the imploded parking brake problem to the dealer this morning and got the call-You need to come look at this.I was taken back to my truck on the lift and shown all the pieces and bent metal-on both sides. The service director came and asked questions-leading ones. They had never seen both sides this bad but agreed to cover it.I am very thankfull and suprised.I would not have bet my last dollar on the outcome. But I do not have my truck back yet. They do have to order parts as even the backing plates are damaged.
