Tire Size Question??

Just recently installed a 2 inch leveling kit on my truck. I have a 2006 F-150 XLT 4x4 Super Cab with the 5.4. Right now I have the stock rims, which I am going to keep for now. My tires are the Hankook 235/75/17r that came stock when i bought the truck. I was wondering how big I could go with tires on the stock 17 inch rims?

you could really push the limits and put 315/70/17 on the stock wheels but you would want the 2.5 inch level kit for that and then the manufacturer may not reccommend moutning a tire that wide on the stock 7.5 inch wheel. You should be fine with the 285/70/17 with the 2 inch kit...there are many here on the site with that set up. I have those Hankook tires too and will be getting rid of them very shortly for some 285/70/17 BFG AT KO/

NForce, you may want to stick with a 285, 295 or 305 max with 2" leveling kit. A 315 can be squeezed on the stock wheels if you have a 2 1/2" kit.

Going bigger than 285 is a personal preference. Going bigger could cause rubbing and some shops may notmount the 315 on your stock wheel, you would have to check on that. You will always need to recalibrate your speedo but a hand held tuner can do that for you.

I have the Nitto Terra Grapplers 295/70-17 on stock 17" rims and they look great and show no signs of uneven wear.
