Offset Question

I have an o5 F150 4x4. I am purchasing an 18x9 rim. The offset is 30. Will that stick out or is that close to stock. I would like wheel to stick out a little. What would be the best offset? Tire is going to be 33x12.50...Thanks

What is the backspacing? The OEM 7.5 inch wide wheels have 5.5 inches of backspacing.

Wandell,

I am going with a 2" AS level kit and either 18 or 20" Moto Metal 951's....Can you tell me what is the ideal tiresize for both of those rim sizes? I believe the 20" rims are a 5-6" BS +30 offset (which I think is near stock specs?), and the 18" rim is a 5-6" BS 25 offset.

Would the 18" rim stick out a little further than the 20"?

I would like the biggest tire possible either way....

Thanks in advance!

Matt

Sorry...wrong info....

The 20x10 are 4.79BS -18 offset
The 18x9 are 4.53BS -12 offset

Anyways, Im looking to go with the biggest tire possible. I think both of those wheels will stick out from the fender a little correct?

Any help would be appreciated....by anyone....but I trust Wandell the most!!!!

Matt

The OEM wheels are 7.5 inches wide with 5.5 inches of backspacing. So a 9 inch wide wheel with 4.53 inches of backspacing will stick out almost 2.5 inches farther than stock. A 10 inch wide wheel with 4.79 inches of backspacing will stick out about 3 1/4 inches farther than stock. Out of those choices I'd go with the 18x9's and a set of 33x12.50-18's or 325/60-18's. Personally, I'd want a 9 inch wide wheel with about 5.5 inches of backspacing.

All right.....I said screw the aftermarket rims...I cant decide which to get, so I am going to keep my stock rims!!

My FX4 rims are only 7.5" wide correct? I have a 2" AS and 1.5" AAL. Can I still fit NITTO Mud Grapplers 35x12.50x18 or BF Goodrich A/T 325/65/18? Are either of those ok for a 7.5" rim? The specs say the mud grapplers require a 8.5-11" rim. The All Terrain require a 9-12" rim....But I have seen some other members with the same set-up.

OR.......what about the Pro-Comp Xtreme Mud Terrains 305/70/18????? They are only 12" wide instead of 12.5

What do you think???? I just want to know for sure before I purchase....

Thanks in advance!

Matt

I would stick with a 305 mm wide tire with the OEM wheels.

I set up the appt. for tomorrow to have my 2"AS and 305/70/18 Pro-Comp Xtreme Mud Terrain installed. My Ford dealer is installing the AS and Tires with Alignment for $165...How does that sound?

I also purchased pro-comp add-a-leafs...not sure if I want them or not yet, so I will just have the AS installed then decide. What is anyones opinion on adding the leaf kits with the AS?

I will take some before and after pics. Thanks to everyone that helped with my decision making!!!!

Matt

Just received my tires and add-a-leaf so I had to cancel my 8am appt. today and postpone it until monday 4wheelparts didnt give me the right arrival date...

The tires look sweet sitting there....but man are they HUGE!! Wandell, are you positive that 305/70/18 Pro Comp Xtreme Mud terrains will fit on a 2006 FX4 4x4 with a 2"AS and stock rims??? These things look SCARY HUGE compared to my stock tires.....I just hope they fit ok...

I WILL have them on Monday....(as long as they fit!)

Lots of pics to follow!!!

Thanks again!

matt

Yeah, those work out to be a 35x12.50 tire. Several members have fit 35's on the new 4x4's by using the oem wheels and a leveling kit, but it is a tight fit. You may have some minor rubbing on the lower control arm at full steering lock.
