Cool Lt 265/70/17

Anyone upgraded from a P265 to a LT265 load C? Looking at the BF All Terrains right now or some Bridgestone REVOs

i did. and i got the bfg's t/a ko's. they are by far the best tire i have ever owned. they ride great. and have awesome traction

Keep in mind that I live in Canada were we see lots of snow and ice during our winter months.

they are great in snow. my friend lives in oklahoma and he has the same tires. every. he keeps an extra set on his stock rims just for winter

I had the P-rated Revos 265/70R17 on my lasrt F-150 and thought they were better than my current LT285/70R17 BFG. The Revos rode softer and had more wet and snow traction.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the LT vs. p-ratings. Some p-rated tires have higher load rating than some other LT rated tires of the same size.

I think the Michelin LTX M/S is still a better tire for every on-road condition.

The main reason for me to upgrade to a LT tire would be upgrading from a tent trailer to a 4000+# TT next year and I also use my truck up north for hunting in our forest areas. Most P ratings are 113 which equates to 2500# per tire. I'm not sure what a Load C is as far as weight handling?

Your rear axle is only rated for 4200 pounds max, so 2x2500 is fine for wahtever you are supposed to carry in your F-150. The BFG LT265/70R17 Load C is only rated for 2350 pounds for example.

From 1010tires, the Toyo Open Country AT is a good value.

Also check out the Nitto Terra Grapplers. I live in Minnesota and get snow and for the time I have had these tires (got them in feb.) They have been great! When I was ice fishing the lake had about 15"+ of snow and the road going out was packed since a car got stuck I put it into 4 wheel and just drove right thru the snow around everyone no problem.

My concern would be wearing out the metric tires too soon if I upgrade to a 4500lb+ trailer.

People get 80-100k miles out of a set of p-rated Michelin LTX M/S. The P vs. LT means nothing specifically for wear. A good tire is a good tire, regardless of its load rating.

A 4500 pounds trailer = 450-600 pounds of tounge weight. Add passengers, camping stuff, etc and youi'll still be under your truck's GVWR and rear axle rating of 4200 pounds.

People tow 7000 pounds trailers with OEM P-rated tires. Find a good tire as anything in size 265/70R17 will have a high enough load rating for an F-150.

I'm running the Bridgestone Revo's LT 265 70R 17's and love them, great ride, traction, and tough tires. I found the BFG KO's were not as tough and didn't wear as long but do look better.

that is true, most of the time a p-rated tire does have a higher load rating than the same lt-rated tire......something I have learned since I got into the tire business, has to do with regulations due to the P (passenger) standards from the DOT. I am in no way an expert but that is something I have learned.

You must be running the 8 ply load E. Has that extra weight compromised your MPG ?

I just picked up 4 265/70/17 Goodyear Wrangler RT/S for $99 They came off an Exploder and only have 10,000 on them. I havent heard good things about the RT/S but for $99 I really dont care, they cant be any worse than the General Ameritrac 255/70/17 my truck came with.

You can come get mine, 8-9/32nd with 55k km on them
