'97 antilock pump location

I've just discovered this site after having my '97 all these years. I bought one of the first of the new style off the line back in '96. 200,000 miles later, I'm just starting to have a few problems. I'm hearing a hum from under the hood and the antilock brake light is on. I'm assuming the antilock pump is the problem. The guy at the parts store told me to just unplug it to turn it off and confirm that's the problem. I can't seem to locate the blasted thing. He said it was under the master cylinder. Is it there or is it on the driver's fender beside the master? Anybody got a pic or description to point me in the right direction? I've just started working on this beasty after all these years. I still prefer to work on my old 60's vintage cars better .

Thanks for the help,

Scott

ABS pump location

I'm not sure, but I think your right they only had rear abs back then. I know I have ABS, just can't remember. I know there is a pump around there somewhere. I just need to find it so I can figure out if its the source of my problem.

Thanks

if it has just rear wheel only it just has a junction block. there is no pump as far as i know. after i replaced a brake line the a.b.s light wouldnt go out either. u had to bleed all four wheels like 4 times around to get all the air out etc.. then the light went out. brakes work great now.

Both RABS and 4WABS were offered in 97 although the RABS version is the most common.

Easiest way to see what you have is to inspect the front wheel spindles. Any electrical harness or connector means it's 4WABS. A complete lack of any electrical wires in the vicinity means it's a RABS system.
