18 to 17s and brakes???

I have read a couple of threads in the past that the 2006 F150 at some point went to a different brakes and do not work with a 17 inch wheel. I currently have the stock 18 FX4 wheels and was looking to switch to 17 and larger tires but how do I know if my truck has the newer brakes or not??? Or does all 06 and newer trucks with 18's have the newer brakes?

Thanks for any help you can give!

You have the upgraded brakes because the change was made during the 2005 model year. This has caused fitment problems with some (but not all)aftermarket 17 inch wheels but all of the OEM 17's fit fine. I havn't seen a post in a while on someone with problems fitting aftermarket 17's, so maybe all of the wheel manufacturers have solved the issue.
