Suggestions on tires

I have a 2006 XLT sc and im looking to add a 2.5" leveling and some new tires to it. I have no idea what tires would fit or what some good choices of tire brand or style there are. Any wisdom toawrds which tire to get would be appreciated. I have already put some new wheels on it.

Here are the specs for them:
American Racing
Matrix Chrome Series 608
17x8
+25 offset
5 1/2 backside

I have no intentions of lifting or changing the wheels out so w/e your recommendations are please be for just the leveling kit and those wheels.

Oh and any recommendations for a good leveling kit are welcomed.

2wd or 4wd?

All terrain tire or Mud tires?

My American Racing wheels have the same specs and on my 2wd w/ 2" level and 1.5" aal, I'm running 285/70/17 Toyo Open Country AT's.

Those wheels have the same (5.5 inch) backspacing as your OEM 7.5 inch wide wheels so they will only stick out 1/2 inch more. If you have a 4x2, you could fit a 285/70-17 (33x11.50) or maybe a 305/65-17 (33x12.50) tire with that wheel and a leveling kit. If you have a 4x4, you could fit up to a 315/70-17 (35x12.50) tire.

what kind of driving do you do most? on highway with a little off road? there are some great all terrain choices (BF Goodrich ATs, Nitto Terra Grapplers, ProComp Extreme ATs) that have decent off road capabilities with good on pavement handling. With a leveling kit, anything less than all terrain tires look wimpy (IMO). Lots of good mud terrains, too (ProComp MT, BF Goodrich MT, Toyo open country MT, etc), but you're sacraficing on road performance, road noise, +/- tire wear.

hey thanx for all the help so far. my truck is 2wd and my driving would be considered mostly highway with a little offroad. Most likely looking all terrain.
I was also wondering how much would this effect my towing. i currently have the 3.73 gearing. Would there be a drastic drop if i were to put 33's on?

I have the AS 2.5" with 285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers with a 3:55 LS end. You will not notice any loss especially with the 3:73. It may hunt gears a tad more but the upgrade will def be worth it
