00 14mm lug wheels on 97 12mm?

im putting the wheels from my new 00 on my old 97. the 97 has a 12mm lug and the 00 is a 14mm. right now i have acorn bevel lug nutz holding them on to center them on the lug. Its made a slight bevel in the wheels when i torqued them. is this setup ok or do i need to switch to the 97 wheels?

You should use the washer type lug nut. I have 03 FX4 wheels on my 99 Expedition and used Lightning Chrome Lug Nuts.

You need lugnuts for a 97 truck.

but the lugs are 2 mm smaller so isnt the wheel going to shift around or is 5 lugs torqed down going to be enough to keep it from moving?

The OEM wheels are hubcentric, which means they are centered by the hub, not the lugs.
