needing info/advice

I'm driving an '02 Supercrew FX4 and I'd like to know how wide my rims actually are? i'm looking at a Readylift leveling kit plus either 17X8 or 17X8.5 (not too wide) inch rims and some 33-inch tires (preferably A/T's)?? Will this set up rub and rob me of alot of power? I'm not hardcore rock-crawling or anything, I just love the look Any suggestions and advice welcome...

First, I'd stay away from the Ready Lift leveling kit. It's just reindexed torsion bar adjustment keys. They will just allow you to put way too much preload on your torsion bars which will lead to premature wear on your CV and ball joints and destroy your ride quality. Just crank up your torsion bar preload with your OEM adjustment keys and save your money.
Your OEM wheels are 17x7.5 inches and your OEM tires are almost 32 inches tall. So I doubt you will notice a difference with a 33 inch tire (285/70-17's or 305/65-17's).

tnutt007,

My wheels are 17x9 with 285/70-17s (33x11.50s) and they seem to be close to flush.

My wheels are 10 inches wide with 4.5 inches of backspacing.

thanks for the help... I like the look of the 17X9's personally- there seem to be plenty of rims in that width so i shouldn't have a problem finding a set- thanks again!

wandell,

there are alot of guys i see driving with the BFG 315/70/17's on stock rims with just their torsion bars cranked- i like this look and was wondering if i could run these on 17X9's w/o rubbing? I'd like at least a true 33-inch tire or the BFG 315's???

I doubt it. 315/70-17's (35x12.50) are an extremely tight fit on a stock 4x4 and just about the only way to do it is to use the OEM 17x7.5 inch wheels. See, wheel width and backspacing are as important to fitment as tire size. If you mount the 35's on a 9 inch wide wheel, it will pull the tire outward and cause rubbing on the fenderwells. As for tire size, the 285/70-17 BFG is right at 33 inches tall. They also just started making a 305/65-17 which is basically a 33x12.50 tire. It will be about the same height as the 285/70-17's but will be about an inch wider. You could run that size using the 17x9 inch wheels.
