ABS light

My abs light comes on and stays on, but the brakes seem to work fine. I put my Innova 3100 on it and there were no codes for it to read. Does anyone have an idea what might be going on?

I ABS light mean the system has detected a fault and shut down the ABS system. Your brakes will function fine..just no ABS. Most common fault is rear speed sensor on the rear differential. Do you have 4WABS or just RWABS? The 4WABS requires a dealer to pull codes, I think there are ways to pull the codes yourself if you have just the RWABS.

I have a similar problem and have read many brake forums but still cant figure out why my ABS light is on. the pads and rotors are in great shape, and ive had the codes pulled (nothing came up) several times. All i need to do is replace the sensor on the read diff right? thats what i figure from reading into it. any other ideas? thanks.

Typically it's that rear diff speed sensor. It's not necessarily even broken, just some contacts could be dirty and the resistance is too high, tripping the light. Pull it apart and give it a shot of electrical parts cleaner to see if that helps. If not, then the next step is to replace that sensor.

How do you find out if its rear anti- or all wheel anti-lock brakes?

Its your sensor if its on all the time, my '01s was always on, then it got to the point where I was used to it & always ignored it But yeah its the ABS not your brakes themselves, otherwise that light would be lit.

Great timing for this subject as the problem occured on my 1998 F150 SC yesterday. I would like to verify that the problem is with the sensor. Does anyone have a picture or diagram showing exactly where the sensor is located?

Thanks,

Kelly
