Pics of 33x12.5

Anyone have pics of 305/70/16 (33x12.5) tires on their truck, preferably on 16x8 inch rims? I was considering this size on some 16x8s that I already have. The truck is a 2000 F150 4x4 and is stock suspension wise. Suggestiosn are appreciated. Thanks.

I have stock suspension on my 2000. Have not touched the torsion bars either. These are 10" rims. I went from stock 17's to 16" Eagle Alloy's. Tires are 305 BFG AT's. The back may look lower, but that is from uneven ground. I am really debating on cranking on the torsion bars. If I do, I will not raise the front more than 1", and may add a leaf in the back.

Beautiful truck!
I thought the 305s were closer to a 35 with the 285s being closer to a 33? I don't know for sure, so no flames, please, but that is what I thought...

The stance on that truck looks real good. Do you guys think I would be ok with 305s on an 8" rim? It's listed as the minimum width for tires of that width. Or should I just stick with a 285 or 295. Anyone run 305s on 8" rims?

Hunt&Fish 05-06-2007 08:30 PM

I think some folks have run 305's on the stock 7.5" wheel. I doubt you will have any problems at all with the 8". Wandell will chime in with correct info. He helped me a bunch. I had to do some minor plastic valence trimming up front, which was a breeze and looks stock. I do not know if it will be needed with 8" rims. I had very minor rubbing from the outer edge of the wheel on a sharp turn. Easy fix and worth it. here is a back view:

305/70-16's are essentially a 33x12.50 tire while a 285/75-16 is basically a 33x11.50 tire. Either will fit your stock 4x4 using 16x8's or 16x10's. You will have to trim the front bumper's valance slightly if you use a 16x10 wheel. You may or may not have to trim with 16x8's, depending on the wheels backspacing.

Thanks for the info guys. Wandell, the backspacing on my 16x8 rims is 4.5 inches, so how do you think they would work with the 305/70/16 tires?

wandell 05-06-2007 08:51 PM

You will be fine. Just about every tire manufacturer recommends an 8 to 10 inch wide wheel for 305mm wide tires.

Sounds good. I will be going with that set-up then. As for tires, I was looking at the Nitto Terra Grapplers, which seem like a nice A/T tire. Anyone have experience with these?

hawg_man 05-06-2007 09:54 PM

no personal experience........but the Terra Grappler is a great tire from all accounts i have ever heard......my roommate just put some on his gmc and they definitely look sweet...

I have had the nitto terra grapplers on for about a 1,000 miles and so far i am very hapy with them. 285/75/16 on eagle 16x10's.
