Abs

Hello, I'm fairly new to the forum and have done most of my posting on the exhaust and intake board. My ABS light came on on my 06' Screw the other day. I took it to the dealer and they said the rear sensor was bad. They ordered a new one and put it on and it was bad and then put on another one and it was bad. They said that they have to order more from Ford because they don't have anymore and Ford is backordered. They claim that they must have gotten a bad "batch".

Does anyone know if this has been a big problem on the newer trucks? I've only got 7,000 miles on it. Thanks for any info.

Gee, maybe the technician doesn't know how to use a meter to check the resistance of the sensor.....

I'd suspect a wiring harness problem before accepting an excuse of a "bad batch" especially since your original one failed with presumably the exact same fault.

BTW, have you ever severly overloaded the bed of the truck? If so, the sensor harness can get pinched on top of the differential and can be severed. Don't ask me how I found that out (it involved 35 sheets of OSB)....

Thanks for the response

I've never had more than a few items in the bed so that wouldn't be the problem. I had this question on the intake forums before I took it over to the dealer. It sounds silly, but I installed a cold air intake on my truck and in order for me to install the heat shield I had to move the brake line over a few inches because the shield would have been resting on top of them. This involved nothing more than me pulling the plastic clip that is taped to the lines out of the small hole in the frame and shoving them all out of the way. I never unplugged anything, but a few days later ABS my light came on??? Coincidence??

Anyway, I don't have enough mechanical sense to troubleshoot the thing. I feel many more trips to the service department before this one gets figured out.
