new tire psi and leveling kit?

Hi everyone. I have an 04 f150 fx4 and its time for new tires. I'm thinking about putting a leveling kit on and some bigger tires. Problem is, I dont want to go too big cuz I drive a LOT and want to keep the mpg about the same. I have the 18" Fx4 rims. I found some goodyear 275/70/18's but they're E rated and it recommends 80 psi. (They're a lil over 1" taller than the 275/65/18s)

First question: Would those tires look ok with a 2" leveling kit?
Second Question: How much would my ride quality deteriorate by running 80 psi. Could I run a lower psi? If so, how much lower?

I found some nice 285s but my rims are too narrow and I can't afford new rims right now. Thanks everyone!!

80 is not the recommended. That is the max for the tire. On an F150, LR E tires with a max psi of 80, work and wear just fine at 50. I would not go lower than 45 on those tires. It will give a rougher ride. The sidewalls do not flex near as much as P series or LR C tires.

Koosh, a 285x65x18 should fit on your stock wheels, and yes 80 psi is not needed for normal driving. 45 to 50 psi ought to be enough.

If you ran the max psi, you'd have a nice bald spot in the middle of the tire, and it would feel like you're riding on steel tires.
