I have a 2004 FX4 Screw and started noticing a clicking noise from the rear area of the truck from time to time. When I hear the noise and then depress the brake pedal, the noise stops. It does not make the noise all the time, but is becoming more frequent and annoying. Is there real area for concern? I appreciate any help and especially pictures of what to look at or what is causing the problem.

 

First check the u-joints.

 

Look into the E-brake mechanism also.
