Smile Bleeding

Hi all,

ofcourse I know what bleeding means, but I am into a strange theater project, where the autor is using some strange car jargon. So "bleeding" in connection with cars would be?
1. A lower (older) color coming through a fresh coat of paint.
2. The action of venting air from a liquid-filled (hydraulic) system.
OR:
Migration to the surface of plasticizers, waxes or similar materials, to form a film or bead.

These explanations I found on http://www.babylon.com/define/14/Aut...ictionary.html - very helpful, ha, ha... Maybe I simply do not get it... just tell me - Bleeding is "bad", un-wanted, right? Is it also used when air is getting out of the tires, and not like in the examples above, where they are talking about liquids?

Happy to hear from you,
High(W)heels

But the answer is #2, like "bleeding" your brake lines. (Getting the air out of them.)

Hi all,

first - stupid - but can't help it. The cat of a friend of mine just was run over - so guys take care, human and animal cats and rats - have a save time on the roads.

Babylon, the company that offers the Automotive Dictionary mentioned above, now has launched LingoZ - The Online Dictionary Community, saying they are building the world's largest dictionary. You can lookup terms, vote for definitions, post comments or add your own terms. And that's where you guys might want get active with your expertise and your special vocabulary. I think that would rock and certainly would be a help for all those lost in words translators as I am.

Big Kiss!

Thanks

Hi Dallasstar10,

I know the Urban Dictionary, and love it. Lingoz seems to be the "serious brother", they are very precise about having terms related to categories, and less "what ever is in and makes fun" at Urban Dictionary.

But thanks for your reply,
High(W)heels

Probably talking about bleeding the brakes. If air was escaping the tires it would be considered "leaking out". Maybe you could quote the writer to clear things up.

Where are you in Austria? We used to go snowboarding around Innsbruck when I lived in Germany!
