Pistons bad?

My buddy took his truck(2000 F150) to a brake place. They told him that his pistons were sticking and they need to be replaced or he may of even said rebuilt. He said that they were electronic. I do not remember the pistons being electronic. It may be electronic over hydrolic. Well any way what is it?Why would they stick. Could they be actually bad or just need lubed along with the pins? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I told him to call ford. They said something about that the pistons are plastic or part plastic and probably need replaced. I was trying to have my buddy just bring the truck over so we could do it ourselves. I am losing. I dont remember them being plastic.
The brake place also said that you can turn the rotors. I know you can but I always thought that those rotors were throw aways and there not that expensive and you might as well replace them. I think he is going to get hosed. I told him to go some where else as welled but I think they have him sold.

You can turn rotors. they are made with plenty of material so that they can be turned to get any hard lines out. Any proper parts store should be able to turn them (if they have the equipment) and they should know how much material is left before you actually need a new rotor. most places make sure there is enough before they turn them if not they will let you know.

as far as the piston being electric... i dont know. plastic is also new to me.
