2004 brake rotors 4x2

Ok guys I had a quote done for my brakes and was told the the front rotors are not turnable and that it would cost 400 per side just for the front and anouther 600 to turn and change the pads in the rear. They told me that the replacement rotors are part of the hub is that true and are there cheaper solutions. PS this was not a dealership qoute.

I just replaced both front hub assemblies(the rotors, hubs and bearinga are all one unit) on my 05 for 142.50 per side. They were bought at a local parts store, Raybestos brand. Mine was due to a bad bearing. I had replaced my pads earlier, so they were still good. I would replace both front rotor assemblies and pads and do pads only on the rear. Parts should run you a total of about $380. You will need a 36mm deep socket to remove the front spindle nut. It is an easy fix. I think the bolts on the calipers are 11mm.

are the bearings all that difficult to work with. I have changed pads and rotors before but never dealt with bearings is there anything special I need to do.

You are missing what I was saying in the above post. There is nothing you can do on the front bearings. They come as part of the hub/rotor/bearing assembly. All built together. Not like the old bearings where you had to pack the grease. These are prelubricated, all one big heavy unit, held on to the spindle with one large nut. (36mm). Easy to work with but costs more. Mine were raybestos at $142.50 per side. If you can remove a caliper, you can change a hub assembly.

Ok thanks I thought that I might have to deal with packing the grease. That works out great. Thanks again for the help.
