285/65-20
305/50-20
305/55-20

and I need to get a really good idea before I go and spend $2,500+ on wheels and tires.

Tires will either be Nitto TG or BFG AT. Perferably the BFG's
Just my opinion, but I think you will be happier with the Nitto's.

Hey Dog em,

Did you notice any mpg change with the 285/65-20 tires?

OK! I think I've chosen my size, but before I purchase, does anyone have pics of 305/55-20 on a 20x9 wheels? Hopefully someone has pics from the front, showing how far they stick out. I know I'm probably beating a dead horse, but I want to get this right the first time.

Thanks
Skid

Not a noticiable power loss and since my truck only has about 8k for miles the mpg still sucks. I was getting around 13.5 - 14 with stock tires, now it's about 12.5, a little better if you keep your foot out of it.

As for the difference between the 285/65/20 and the 305/55/20, the 305's are going to be about .7" wider and about 1.5" shorter than the 285's.

Everyone has an opinion on tire brands, I've always had good luck with BFG's. A buddy of mine put Nitto's on his Chevy about the same time I put on the BFG's and has twice the miles but is already complaining about poor wear. Says the rubber compound is too soft, just another opinion.. Good luck.

skid212,
Have you looked at the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor 305/60 R20 (34.4")? Seems like a good size to consider.

My next tire will be either that one or the 285/65/20 (34.6") BFG's mentioned here.

Silent Armor's are great tires for highway and mild off road use, we run them on all of our work trucks. I didn't know they made them in a 305/60/20, must be a newer size, well now you've at least got some options.
