Finding a 33" tire for an 18" wheel

I have searched high and low for a 33" tire to fit my factory 18" wheels on my 04 FX4. I really want to go with either the BFG a/t, the **** Cepek a/t, but I searched their website, and i couldn't find a 33x12.5 R18. Any suggestions???

Try a 285x65x18, I know BFG makes them in an AT.

As mentioned above 305/65/18 is the closest 33.61/12

285/65/18 is a bit shy 32.59/11.22

325/60/18 is close at 33.35/12.80

I've been searching high and low as well. The BFG is the best bet but they are really proud of that tire! Discount has them at $294.00
Kumho makes that 325/60/18 for $205.00

Stupid 18" tires

Check out Cooper Discoverer S/T

I got a price of $260/ea mounted and balanced from my local Ford dealer today. Have not made the move however....

Its an LT275/70 R18 (33.3/10.95) E-rated. I assume it will work on a stock FX4 without rubbing....Wandell?

Anyone have some info on these tires good or bad?

Ed

Yes, those will fit fine. They seem to have a pretty good reputation. They have a tread pattern similar to the Toyo MT's and Mickey Thompson MTZ's.

Thanks Wandell.....

By the way JNC, I have found them now for $219/ea mounted and balanced. Seems like a good tire for the money. I think that's the route I'm going to go.

Are they S/Ts or STTs? Where did you find them for that price? Seems like a great price, especially if they are STTs.
Thanks.

I'd go with the 305/65/18 BFGs, they look great on the stock FX4 wheels.

Hey Shuler,

They are S/T's, and I got them from a small local tire shop. So far I am pretty pleased. Seem like a much more aggressive tread than other A/T's, but still quiet on the road. Only 100 miles on them, so we'll see how they hold up. The $219 was mounted and balanced and on the truck....I am really pleased with how they look....

Cooper Discoverer S/T update

The Cooper S/T's now have 12k miles on them, and they seem to be wearing well, and work great in the mud. Also very nice for towing. Should work great for snowplowing, but trying not to think about that yet...

Do you have any pics of them? I am considering either those or the BFG ATs.

Cooper Discoverer S/T Update

FWIW the tires now have 57,000 miles on them now and still have 1/4 inch of tread. However, I did manage to knock the front end of the truck out of line this winter and caused some uneven wear before I realized it (not the tire's fault for sure!). The wear caused increased tire noise, but the handling is fine.

Tires were awesome for snowplowing this last winter. I had to plow nearly every third day all winter. I also tow a farm tractor/equipment, and the sturdy sidewalls make for real nice handling when towing. Overall I am really pleased.

Ran a big screw and a nail (yes at the same time!) through one of the tires, and had it fixed, but it still seems to lose a little air. Need new tires for plowing this winter anyway, but if it wasn't for the slow leak, I could definetly make it until the snow flies this fall, which would probably be about 65k or a little more.

Pretty sure I'll buy another set, but might look at Nitto TG's as a comparison.
