changing wheels, affect speedo?

changing wheels, affect speedo?

i am changing my oem 18" lariat wheels w/stock tires with oem 20" wheels w/stock tires and was wondering if it will affect my speedo?

It's tire height that causes the speedometer to be off, bit wheel size. If the two tires are the same height, your speedo will not be off.

ok..so i will compare the 2 when i get one off. i will put them side by side and see if there is a difference!!!....thanks

You don't need to compare them that way. If you have the tire sizes, you can plug the values in here. It will tell you the difference and how much if any the speedometer will be off.

sweet that is cool......but i just picked my 20's up last night and will be changing them today after work so i will be able to compare in the process of changing.......thanks.....

I was thinking about swapping my oem 18's for some oem 20's but wasn't sure if the '05 models had tire pressure sensors. If so would I have to get new sensors if I swapped my wheels? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you have tire pressure sensors, just swap them onto the new wheels.

but arent the sensors inside the tire on the wheel..........if you are just swapping wheels and tires, you never break the tire off the wheel........also, how do you know if you have them?.......

Tire pressure sensors started on the F150 in 07. Yes you would have to break down one side of the wheel to get the sensors out if you had them.

cool deal thanks....i swapped mine last night and i will be getting b4 and after pics later today or tomorrow.......thanks for all your help guys.....
