Need help with Pro Comp 6005's

I currently have a stock 2002 f150 super crew fx4. I've bought a new set of Cooper STT 285/70/17's and am in the process of buying new wheels. I like the Pro Comp 6005 17x9's. I called to order them and the sales rep told me chances are with this size tire and wheel (4 3/4 backspacing) that i would have some serious rubbing and therefore need to do some fender trimming. Is this true? Can I go with a 17 x8 rim and not have to trim my fenders? I'd hate to have to bring my tires back. Thanks

You may have to trim a little plastic off your front bumper's lower valance, but I doubt it. I have some pics in my gallary of the minor trimming I did to fit 16x10 inch wheels and 285/75-16's on my truck at stock height.

Got the Tires

Tires and rims look great, but I did have to trim a little from my front valence.

Thanks
