new tire time!

so my stock continental tires are basically slicks so ive decided to get some new ones. The tire size is P255/55R17 but i know i want at least a P265/70R17 maybe bigger but i dont want to add a lift or leveling kit. Its down to 4 tires for me, the Pirelli Scorpoin ATR, Nitto Terra Grapplers, Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO, and the Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor. Im interested to hear everyones opinions on these tires such as tread life, off-roading capability, as well as on road capability, and any other interesting bits of information ya'll have. I do tow a boat but maybe 15 times a year.

My truck is a 2wd 2005 Scab.

Thanks

That is exactly the change I made for size and I love them. Only difference, I went with the Michelin LTX M/S. They are the best tire I have ever run and I won't buy anything else. But size, I really like the 265/70/17. They are about 1 1/2 taller. A couple of pics in the gallery, they are the black tires.

I'd go with the Nitto's or Bridgestones.

I guess one other thing i should mention is im not exactly made of money, with college and all, but i would like to spend between 180 to 150 a tire or so...i kno the bridgestones are right at about 185 but if its worth it. i just dont wanna spend over 200 bucks.

Get either the revos or the nittos. The $185/ tire seems a little steep though for the revos. Are they an E rated tire or something?

Here is a webiste that has really good prices on tires. They have the nittos from $104-$150 and the revos from $150-$180. There is really no reason to have an e-rated tire on your truck unless you just want one. The ride will be really stiff and chances are they are rated for loads that are too heavy for your truck to haul anyway. (I think they are rated for about 3000lbs) Hope this helps

Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armour

I just had 4 Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armour's put on an hour ago. They look *****!! They get great reviews and score very high overall ratings in their class. Reviewers say "great on my snow plow truck" and "perfect on cross-country trip". I just added pics in my gallery. I only have 10 miles on them.....will have to report back later.

BTW: 4 new 18 inchers were $750 all mounted up.

I am replacing oem Perelli's due to a small rock rupturing the sidewall (1200 miles-new tk.), the 2ply is good looking but what a sissy. My good wife has Revo's on an 02' Excursion and they are great (10 ply=needed for weight and towing), they ride well and do great off-road. Hope this helps.

So i hear a buch of people with the revos that love them, but im kinda leaning towards the pirelli's. im a little worried tho because they are 2 ply. my friend has the revos and he likes them but after 20000 miles, he has no tread left at all. can i get the nittos with the OWL sidewall? i havnt been able to find them like that and i really want that.

the nittos only come with a black sidewall. Don't get a 2 ply tire, you'll regret it if you do. I would look at a 6 ply minimum. The story about your buddies revos sound like an isolated case.

Revo

I'll sell you 3 perelli's and one with a huge gash in the sidewall from the rocks at a construction site. I've had 4x4's for 22 years and I've had some cheap generic tires but I've never seen anything to beat a 2ply tire on a 4x4 truck. Don't they have rocks and sticks and stuff out there in the woods? Oh and to boot I have a 16" spare. I just bought this truck and I assumed the Perellis were top off the line,I should have been paying attention, now my wife is going to beat me.Our Revos have 7000 or so miles and the only visible wear is the little nubbies are gone (the little tiny tips from new. I sure hope you get something you like, it is after all your ride. Thanks for all the good advice found here
