probably a dumb question

is the lug pattern the same on the 97-2003 f150's?

Yes for the years 97-2003 the lug pattern is the same. Ford did change the size of the actual lug in early 2000. They went from 12mm lugs to 14mm lugs.

does that mean tires that fit a 2003 won't fit a 99?

Tires or wheels? If a set of stock rims and tires were taken off an 03, yes they will fit a 99. You will have to use the lug nuts from the 99. Aftermarket rims/tires are another story. The the suspension was changed on the 03, you would have to do the same changes on the 99 to make the aftermarket tires/rims.

it is a stock 2003 that I have after market rims and 305/70/16's that I took off and a friend wants to buy them but I can't remember if he has a 2000 or a 99

He has a 99 does that mean they won't work on his, he is getting a body lift soon he said.

If they work on your stock (no lift) 03, they will work on his 99. That is comparing 4x4 to 4x4 and 4x2 to 4x2, not 4x4 03 to 4x2 99.

that is good to know I would really like to get rid of these tires and get a programmer.
