New pads and decided to paint the calipers
Just used some off the shelf paint primer and CRYLON paint..
I`ve done that in the past and It`s held up for years.. just gotta make sure the area is clean.. I use a wire brush attached to a drill.. and a few layers of primer and paint.
In the past I`ve taken the calipers off but this time i left them on the truck and just took off the brakets

He is correct. Which is why they recommend to not spray your diff covers as well when you get your truck undercoated. The biggest dissipater of heat is your rotors though. I think you'll be fine. Although your rotors look like it's about time to machine or replace them lol.

Rotors are on the list thou
oh and if I didn`t "boil " the brake fluid hot lapping my Hawk (from 110mph to 0) with painted rotors I~m definately worried about a daily driver truck..
as a matter of fact we better call Ford GM and Dodge cause they all powdercoat rotors on some vehicles.. Brembo and BEAR boy they are screwed too

A caliper that is DESIGNED to be coated also has cooling fins where it needs them, or enough thermal mass to handle it, or is made of Aluminum... A caliper that was designed to be BARE doesn't have what it takes to dissipate heat thru a coating. You're modifying something without considering all the impacts your change will have on its performance. When Ford, GM, Dodge, & Brembo change a design, they analyze it thoroughly on paper, then in a test lab, then on a test track, before they put it on the road.

oooh nice I wish I would have thought of that... had to be a bitch to mask of thou no?/QUOTE]
No masking required I just spray what I wanted to, masked off the suspension parts with a shop towel. The pads will "clean" any overspary off the rotors when you drive away with no ill effects on the brakes.
Check out my other thread on the same issue.

Well it has worked for me over the years as well as my friends who have done the same, Honda, Chevy Ford and so on. Ford also says not to race, or modify your vehicles because it may cause damage, which is not covered by Ford and we all listen to that, Right?
