Fitting 03 FX4 rims onto 97 F150
Fitting 03 FX4 rims onto 97 F150
I found a great deal on a set of FX4 rims off of a 2003 FX4, which I bought for my 97 F150. Planned on using them for daily drivers and mounting snow tires on the stock rims for winter mountain driving with snowmobiles. The problem I found is while both have 5x135 bolt patterns, the 97-99's have a 12x1.75 thread, while the 03's have 14x2.00. (I know, should'a done my homework first, but had to grab them before someone else did)
What I'm wondering is if I can still use them on my F150. I can find aftermarket 12x1.75 chrome lugs, but they're countersunk, not flat like the stock lugs. I'm also concerned about the size of the wheel holes (12mm vs. 14mm) and if it would cause them to be loose. Is there an adapter available, or am I ok with mounting them with the aftermarket lugs? Any other tricks I can try?

I bought some for my 97 F150 (the FX4 rims)
I didnt know about the difference in lug nut size when i purchased them. Had them put on but then the guys told me the lug nuts were different. didnt matter though, they just used the lug nuts i had on it. Worked fine. Should be ok for you too. I just bought another pair of FX4 rims for my 98 and plan on putting them on with no problem.

Dude- its yer truck, $, and life but if it aint the right fit think about the complications that could happen using the wrong lugs. Wandell is regarded as the guru of all things round and rubber. I'd listen to his advice on this one.
I put Fx4 Wheels on my 99 Expedition & used 12mm Lightning lugs from Ford Racing.
$20.90 for a box of 5 lugs. The part number is M1012C. These are Ford Racing Parts.
The best price for the lugs was from the following Ford Racing Parts Dealer:

My local Ford dealership wanted $7.50 each.
Good luck!
