16" vs 17" rims...

I am in the market for new tires and was thinking of swapping 16" Mickey Thompson Aluminum rims for the stock 17" alloys on my 1998 F150 4X4. Does it make that much of a difference to switch to the smaller diameter rim? Logically, it doesn't seem like the geometry and physics of the wheel would change that drastically, but I hear garbage form purists that say stock is better.

Any help?

Thanks,

Tim

Stock sux!! I'd go with aftermarket wheels. Personally, I'd go with 16's or 18's.

The only reason to change your rims is because you don't like how they look, or you like a particular other wheel's design better. Larger or smaller has much cost benefit for the same sized tire. Has little impact on wear and tear on the vehicle either.

So, if you really like those MT wheels, get them!

Stock aren't nearly as nice and 16's have a lot more selection for tires and they're cheaper than 17's.
