wierd question...smaller tires

Yes, I know it's a weird question...most people ask if bigger tires will fit. My question is the opposite. The tires on my 98 F150 need to be replaced. One of them blew out (I replaced it with the spare) and the others are bald (1/32 tread).

The truck has the 265/70-17 tires on it now. A friend of mine gave me (for free ) the set of 235/75-17 Hankook DynaPro AT tires off his new F150. He told me he couldn't stand them and just had to get rid of them. Yes, I know they suck, but I am really needing some tires right now and don't have $700 to spend on new ones. If these tires will fit on my wheels, even if they last until fall, I will be happy, as by then I'll have saved up some cash to buy some nice new A/T tires.

I know they have a slightly smaller diameter, but my biggest concern is the width. I'm not sure how wide my wheels are, but would the 235's be too small to fit?

Your stock 17's are 7.5 wide and your friends truck are 7.5 wide. So you don't have any concerns from a rim width perspective. The new tires are roughly 1-1/8" narrower then your your tires and a little less then 3/4 shorter.

We all understand those financial decisions that each of us has to make from time to time and Free tires, regardless of size (as long as they fit) are tough to pass up. So, go for it. Run them until you can save up funding to get what you want.

Take those Dyna pieces of sh-t and use them for swings on a tree for very little children, or use them for football drills, that's it. Those tires are crap, they wear funny and are very flimsey, run from them. You're friend is actually doing you a no good favor, punch him in the head or something. All kidding aside, they are crap, suited for a small passenger car in reality. See how you make out, but keep this in mind.

This guy is trying to save some money i dont see any problem with those tires. Here is a picture that i have 235 75 17 Hankook tires, it worked for me, and i keep them just for emergency because i know they worth nothing. i hope this helps.

maybe you'd like to send me $700 then for new tires? if i don't do something, the 3 tires i have left are going to blow out and then i will have NO tires. surely, flimsy, funny-wearing tires must be better than driving around on rims with no tires on them?

like i said in my original post, i really don't care if they last 6 months, and i don't plan on doing any towing or anything, just an empty truck to drive around.

edit: i should add that i will be replacing them with new 265/70-17 A/T tires (most likely a Bridgestone/Firestone product) as soon as the funds allow. if that happens to be a month or 2 down the road, then great. if it happens to be 6 months to a year, then at least i will have something.
