toyo vs nitto
toyo vs nitto
ok i am looking in to new tires i am looking at both the nitto terra grapplers and the toyo open country a\ts, i was wondering if any one was running these and what they thought? i would prefure a tire that is fairly quite. i am looking at the 325/65r18s or 35x12.50r18s i do about 50% highway driving and do a small amount of off road, also i want a tire that looks bad *** and will make my truck look tuff. i have a 06 f150 screw lifted.
Pretty much the same tread pattern. Very close. I personally think the sidewalls make the tire and with that said, the Terra's have a nice stylish looking sidewall. the toyo's to me are just too plain.
the toyo a/t's are great. i have a set on my '04 scab. the m/t's look good but i've heard from many people that they don't last good at all. it seems like maybe 20k give or take.

Toyo like Wandell said, does make Nitto tires. I've been running the Toyo A/T's 285x70x17's on 17x9 wheels. They are an excellent all around tough tire but ride a little rough and don't look as good as the Nitto's. Great tire if you go to construction sites and run on rough roads like we have in the New Orleans area.

As for the Toyo MT's, they are supposedly the quietest mud tire available.

Strangely enough, even though they're made by the same company, the Toyo A/T and the Nitto Terra Grappler have different specs for the same size tire (per their web page):
Nitto Terra Grappler 325/60/18: 32.99 diameter, 12.8 wide
Toyo Open Country A/T 325/60/18: 33.6 diameter, 12.6 wide
The 0.6 difference in diameter is actually pretty significant, and almost makes the Toyo a 34" tire. Does anyone know if this is visible when the two are compared next to each other?
