Help with new wheels

Just ordered some 285/65R18 Nitto grapplers for my 06 fx4 with 2"AS. Now i'm looking for a wheel,I want the tire/wheel combo to stick out from fender slightly. But I'm confused with offset I understand backspacing (5.5" oem)but what do I need for offset? What would be an acceptable backspacing/offset combo to get the look I want without any rubbing issues ( I offroad frequently)?
thanks

p.s.- I re-thought my original plans - earlier post

You shoudn't have too many problems with that size tire, I would almost have to leave them on the stock wheels, keeps road spray and mud inside the wheelwells. If you want aftermaket wheels go with a 18x9or 9.5 with a 4 1/2" or 5" backspace, offset's vary.

thanks.. What does offset have to do with backset. Got a wheel 18x9 5"bs, +2 offset. one 18x8.5, 6"bs, +30 offset. What is the difference in relation to stock wheels? I'm confused on the offset aspect.
another one 18x9.5 4.5bs, -19 offset...

A 5.5 BS is pretty close to stock. I'd need a wheel drawing to explain offset. All I know my wheels show 0 degree offset with a 5" backspace.

so a 10" wheel with 5" bs, 0 offset would stick out 5" from hub. Now how about the wheels I'm talking about? Is there a formula or rule of thumb pertaining to bs and offset?

If you go with a 4 1/2" BS they should stick out about 1" farther then your stock wheels. A 5" about 1/2" . Look at my gallery with my 5" backspace wheels with 285 tires.

Not really. It depends on the width of the rim as well. He was quoting 8.5" to 9.5" wide wheels, whereas the factory rims are 7.5" wide. So it's already 1" to 2" wider, then you tack on an extra inch if you have only 4.5" backspacing, and you're sticking out an extra 2-3 inches.

...and then you have to figure in any added width of a larger tire...

You're right, I didn't add the extra rim and tire width. OK explain the offset, my wheels have a 0 degree offset as shown by AR,

So.. forget about offset and just deal with the backspacing . a 18x9, 5"bs will stick out 2" more than stock 18x7.5, 5.5 bs... not counting tire width

Yep, that's about right! Check out Mange's wheel drawing above.
