Question 17 Vs 18 tires and wheels

Have a 2005 screw 4x4 xlt. Putting on new wheels and tires, and wondering if it is worth the extra money to upgrade to 18s. Looking at BFG AT KOs 285 70R17 or 285 65R18. Is there any advantage to the 18, the salesman says the shorter sidewall will perform better on the street. Also in the after market wheels what back spacing and offset will I need for the '05 XLT 4x4.
Thanks!

I'd go with 18's personally. The OEM wheels have 5.5 inches of backspacing, so you want to stay close to that.

if i remember correctly theres also more sizes availible for the 18s
but the tires for 18s cost a little more than those of the 17s
but like the guy said, the larger wheel will perform better on the road

I went with 17's because they were easier to get in my neck of the wood's than the 18's. If you go with 17's make sure the aftermarket wheels clear your brakes.
