Clear coating polished wheels

I was going to get polished wheels and try and run them year round, but I heard a lot of horror stories from the wheels getting ruined from repeated exposure to road salt. Some people recommended getting them clear coated. I checked with one powder coater in my area who has done wheels before and cost would be $40-45 a wheel. Does it make a difference if it is powder coat or just regular paint clear coat that a Ford dealer could spray?? The wheel I was going to do was the Eagle 102 which I can get for $90 a wheel. Wanted to know if anybody did it before and if it turned out good. One of my other options is to run 2 different sets of wheels and tires, with the polished being run in the summer and then run my factory wheels through the winter. I would really have to plead with my wife on the latter option.

Spend the money and get them powder coated. It will be a tougher finish.

I agree. Powdercoating is more durable than automotive clearcoat paint.
