Wide Stance Question

I have a question, im looking to buy a 2005 fx4 that already has a 6" fabtech lift and 35's? well, they are really 325/60/18's.. guess that works out to 35/13.5/18's... they are mounted on moto metal 951's... here's the question.. the tires are pro comp xterrain's, and i like everything about the truck except the fact that the tires stick out of the fenders too far. i've seen other trucks with this size tire but dont thing they stick out quite as far.. im not sure if it's a question of backstacing or heaven forbit a wheel spacer of some sort to make them stick out farther..
i know i can change the tires to a 12.5 inch wide tire and that would get ride of some of the wideness, but im guessing or figuring just 1/2 inch on each side (the inside and outside of the rim).. or is a wide stance just a characteristic of the moto metal wheel/procomp tire combo? ive seen other pics of them and not all of them seem to stick out that far..

btw, the current owner doesnt know 'why they stick out that far".. he just bought what the guys that lifted it suggested.. hope my quesiton is clear. thanks for any input.

Bill

btw, i can email someone a pic but can't post one since im new on the forum, it wouldnt let me of im doing it wrong.

reading more about it, im assuming the wheels im talking about have a 4.5" backspace. .that combined with a 13.5" wide tire, and that's why they seem to stick out about 2.5 inches.. does that seem right? i see that when buying the moto metal's, you have a choice of 4.5" bs or 6" bs.. im guessing 6" backspace will be more like stock.. does that seem right? also, in the above post, i stated the tires were 325/60/18's, but now im thinking they are 325/65/18's cause the owner was sure they were like 34.7" tall.. or basically 35's..
am i right thinking they are 4.5" bs on these wheels. wish there was a way to post a pic.. then you could see what im talking about.. can i email someone a pic and they can post?
is a 4.5" bs wheel popular on the f150. most i see dont stick out this much..

thanks for any input.

Bill.

the fabtech lift also widens the stance in the front which is why alot of ppl go with the procomp

Sounds like you figured it out yourself. I'd guess you have the wheels with 4.5 inches of backspacing. If you switch to a wheel with more backspacing, your tires won't stick out as far.

A lot of the newer lifts are designed to give a wide stance - not sure about this one. It allows for more wheel travel (think about geometry) but...

Are the back wheels out as far as the front? Don't forget a set of flares can clean the look up in a hurry.

I have Bushwacker pocket flares on mine, the 33x13.5 tires, the running boards, and the flares all line up - looks super sweet.

However, with the 6" lift that's going on to clear the 37s, the front fenders & flares are being replaced with some prerunner fenders... should look that much better!

I have 325/60/18 on moto metal 951's with 4.75 BS. They are too small IMO, but they are working for me. I'll be adding some larger tires later. I love the wide look.

It has a fabtech lift with the steering stabilizers, not sure if that in itself will give it a wider stance.. the back seems to stick out about the same as the front..
Wandell, yeah.. guess i have it figured out.. they are a 10" wide wheel too, so that puts them out there too.. can i email you a pic to post?
the real concern, if you want to call it that is that i do 90 percent if not more street driving, so having mud tires that are that wide doesnt make too much sence.. but i still want a lifted 4x4.. go figure.. thanks.
Bill.
