F-150 rotor question?
F-150 rotor question?
My 2000 F-150 s/cab 2 w/d 5.4 4w abs is ready for a break job, the front rotors will be replaced and a question I have is that the ones on the truck are 5 lug 12-mm the parts store claims that the 14-mm lug rotors are about $6.00 ea. less than the 12-mm lugs, dont have any info. but sounds like somebody will have the answer if we can go to the 14-mm without any other changes.
OK, not to hijack this thread, but I'm in a similar situation and I'm looking at Rock Auto for prices. There are so many different brands and grades of rotors that I'm having trouble telling what the difference is. Anybody ever had and "bad" rotors? I don't want to waste my money on cheap rotors, but I don't want to waste it on overpriced ones either. Any help would be great. TIA--DIY

At 60,000 the rotors on my 2003 were in good shape and didn't even need to be turned. I just put some new pads on and have had no problems. In the past, I have always had rotors turned but a couple people on this site said I would be O.K.. Glad I listened! From what I have read, most of the cheap rotors out there are made in China and are lacking in quality. If they spec out O.K., I think you will be much better of just having the factory ones turned.
