265/60/18s to 285/70/17s

My 2005 4X2 SCrew has a 2.5 AS kit with stock 265s. My question is can I replace the 18s with the 17s? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yep as long as you go down to a 17 inch rim. I am running the 285/70/17 with no level kit (at least this week). Runs great just make sure you redo the speedo, only 5-8% off but for me a big differance

Just be aware that SOME aftermarket 17" wheels may not clear your calipers. Not sure which brands won't, just ask to try first. All of Ford's 17" wheels will clear the calipers.

I want to put the Pro Comp 6001 17X9, 6X135mm, with a 4.5 backspace on. Will these clear the calipers?

I'm not sure, but I'd want more than 4.5 inches of backspacing. That may cause you fitment problems with 33's.
