All kidding aside, all the rotors are probably chinese made, in any case, going the more expensive has proved the way to go in the past, not so on the pads as jbrew will agree, "gold" vs "blue" Carquest pads, twice the price the golds were. Honestly, the difference in rotor price may be slight, like $10 on average, it isn't like twice the price. I won't go there with the "made in china" arguement, point is cheaply made, cheap labor, cheap thin material equals you guest it, cheap chit. I like chinese people too, very good, nice folks, just the politics side is for chit.

Well said Blue, cept, my Gold (lifetime) pads were much more expensive than the Blue pads - The Blues are just a better application. The Golds I had were made up of copper/ceramic properties, Carquest Golds. They didn't squeal . The pad is too dense or something , made for a roughness when braking

Jeeze, wish I'd read this thread before laying down the Discover card at the computer last night. Just bought EBC pads all around ("SUV" 7000-series for the front, regular "Green Stuff" 6000-series for the back; because they didn't have a 7000 series back there); and a set of "Aimco Premium" (probably Chinese) rotors for the back because one of the originals is warped. Long story made short: Highway speeds, heavy load, panic stop into a road washout (Running water in the desert, believe it or not) on the highway, front rotors survived???

Looked at the Brembo rotors; but, at $128/ea -vs- $75/ea, I said "Next time". Christmas and 2 birthdays and a PRCA Rodeo (I help put it on every year) ate a big hole in my disposable income.

Oh well, "Next Time".

I'd sure stay away from Duralast Gold sold at the local auto parts store (avoiding name). They are so dusty. May replace them later in the spring or summer because of the dust. Never seen so much dust before. Hate to waste money by replacing pads before they are worn down but I might do it.

Thumbs down

I went with Porterfield pads on stock rotors after everyone raved about them.

DAMN YOU ALL because these pads throw 70% as much dust as the OEM pads. I literally could dirty an entire hand towel by cleaning my wheels from a 15 minute drive.

It pisses me off because 90% of the reason I made the switch was to eliminate the dust...

Can't wait for these pads to die so I can get something that doesn't shed worse than a dog in the middle of an Arizona summer.
