another dumbass ?

I have 265/70/17 tires on my truck. The tires say the max psi is 44. I have 33psi in them now. What do you guys run in them? Do you think the tire would get a little more wear out of it if I went a little bit higher on the air pressure? The tires dont look flat but the sidewalls do look a little low. Thanks

I've always found 40 psi to be a good pressure for truck tires. Usually running a little higher pressure will help wear and milage very, very slightly.

Those are extra load P series tires. I don't know if you need to go as high as 40, but 33 does seem a bit low. I would at least get it up to about 36-37.
As far as the pressure in the tire, it has nothing to do with the size. It has everything to do with the load range. As long as you don't go over the max listed on the sidewall, it is not going to blow out. It is far safer to have a bit too much pressure, as long as you aren't over the max, than it is to have too low a pressure. too low a pressure causes the tire to heat, especially at highway speeds. This can cause blowouts and tread separation.

just be careful not to over inflate them, i followed the pressures in my previous GMC truck at 40 front and 60 psi rear and it ruined a perfectly good set of 245/70/R16 Goodyears. i would agree with these guys your probably going to be safe up to about 38-40 psi at the max. and even at that you might notice more wear in the center of your tire at 40 psi., just pay attention to the pressures and how they're wearing and you'll be fine.
