Nitto terra grapplers

I just spent a 1/2 hr reading about how many people hate the Nitto TG on a tire site. My question is what personally do people with the TG think about these tires on there 04+ F-150. Do you have a lot of miles on them and are they wearing fast. A lot of people complained that they were bold between 25-30k. There were a lot of different model trucks so I want to know from people with F-150s. Thanks

Nitto Terra Grapplers, AS 2.5"....

I am also interested in this subject. I am currently looking at purchasing these tires 325/60/18 and Moto Metal 951's for my 2006 Screw but I have some questions...Also purchasin AS 2.5" and add-a-leafs for the rear...

How well do these tires really wear?

What are the pro's/con's anyones had?

With the set-up I will have, what would the backspacing need to be without ANY rubbing?....I was thinking (-12mm 4.5" BS) for an aggressive stance.

I also heard something about the maximum width of the tire compared to the rim width....Could I have a 13.5" wide tire on a 9" rim?

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Matt

I was just told by a local tire installer that he would not put 12.5 or wider tire on an 18x9 rim. But there a lot of people here that have it.

yea you can put a 13.5" tire on a 9" wide rim.. If a local tire shop told you that i would go somewhere else.. I could understand them saying that about rim < 8" but not a 9" rim

i work at discount tire, for several months now.. and i am actually doin the same thing witht eh motto metal wheels 18 inch and the nitto TG 325/60/18..

that tire is (looked on there site) 12.99 wide..

my manager would have said somethign to me about it if it was a prob. but honestly, im my experience.. there is no prob.. i probably wouldnt go wider then a 13.5 on a 9 wide, unless u have a taller side wall then a 33.. or (325/60)

hope this helps.

I've heard very, very few negative statements about the about the Terra Grapplers or their twin, the Toyo Open Country AT. Everyone here and at FTW seem to agree that they are among the best all terrian tires ever made.

Im glad to hear that people on this site likes them, Im still undecided between the TG 325-60-18 or the Toyo M/T 33-12.5-18. My main concern is long gevardy. Ive heard -0- complaints about the Toyo m/t but they are a lot more money.

i had a set of tgs on my 02 screw
went about 45k miles & i wanted some new tires so they went out in style
if youre looking for longitivity then you need to look into the bfg all-terrain kos
if you keep the psi correct, balance & rotate them regularly you can get 70-80k miles out of em easy

but from my personal experience with the terra grapplers, they handle superbly, even on wet roads, & pretty well offroad
im sure if i would of continued to balance & rotate mine they would of lasted me another 10k miles or more but i needed some mts because this is our rainy/muddy season & the tgs just werent making it through what i needed them to

it all really depends on how you are going to use your truck
if youre going to be mostly on road but a little offroad go with the terra grapplers
if you need some tires a lil more agressive for a lil more offroad then go with the bfg a/t kos
sorry for the long reply, good luck with your choice & post some pics when youre done
Sean

I looked at the BFG and they are more expensive then the Toyo m/t and not to many people carry the 305-65-18 BFGs. Thank for the reply all input on this subject is appriciated.

I've got the 325/60r18 Nitto TGs on my truck, 30,000+ miles now, and they're still running strong. I have had 0 issues with them, except the 6 month wait when I bought them a couple of years ago. I also looked at the BFGs ( didn't have the size I wanted when I wanted them ) and the Toyos ( too expensive for my budget ). I would buy another set of Nitto TGs in a heartbeat, when I need them...
