Any problems with 17” to 18” wheel swap?

I have an 06 F150 SuperCab 4X4 XLT that came with stock P235/70/17" wheels/tires. I came into possession of some P275/65/18" wheels/tires from an 06 F150 FX4. I believe that is a 32" to a 33" total tires diameter change but not sure. Do I need to calibrate the speedometer/computer to compensate for the tire change? Anything else I need to worry about?

Thanks

Your speed and miles will be off about 3%. The only way to recalibrate is to correct the computer and you need a tuner or the dealer to do that. Nothing else to worry about.

Right. You don't have to recalibrate anything, but it's always a good idea to do it.

You're actually about 7% larger than stock tire size. Expect performance & mileage to drop some and shifting to be a little slow. I'm only 3.5% larger than stock and noticed these things. If you don't plan on getting a tuner, have a dealer change the tire size in your computer to return shift quality.

I changed mine from the 17s to the FX4s and I dont notice anything off, now I did have a recall done after the switch so it may have been corrected then.

Xterrable -

I'm getting my new wheels this week and have a set of aluminum/painted 17" from my 2005 SCAB 4x4. They have the 255/70-17 Generals with 24,000 miles on them. Contact me via email if interested.

I had the 235 75r 17 Hankook cheapos when I picked up my rig from the dealer. Within 50 miles I had the new 18's and new Toyos on it (planned for in advance). Never regreted it and in 8 months no problems.
